A Wavelet-Free Approach for Multiresolution-Based Grid Adaptation for Conservation Laws
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract In recent years the concept of multiresolution-based adaptive discontinuous Galerkin (DG) schemes for hyperbolic conservation laws has been developed. The key idea is to perform a multiresolution analysis DG solution using multiwavelets defined on hierarchy nested grids. Typically this applied dyadic grid hierarchies where explicit construction be performed only one reference element. For non-uniform have constructed each element and, thus, becomes extremely expensive. To overcome problem developed that avoids multiwavelets.

Multiresolution schemes for conservation laws
In recent years a variety of high{order schemes for the numerical solution of conservation laws has been developed. In general, these numerical methods involve expensive ux evaluations in order to resolve discontinuities accurately. But in large parts of the ow domain the solution is smooth. Hence in these regions an unexpen-sive nite diierence scheme suuces. In order to reduce the number of ex...

15 صفحه اولA Finite Element, Multiresolution Viscosity Method for Hyperbolic Conservation Laws
It is well known that the classic Galerkin finite element method is unstable when applied to hyperbolic conservation laws such as the Euler equations for compressible flow. It is also well known that naively adding artificial diffusion to the equations stabilizes the method but sacrifices too much accuracy to be of any practical use. An elegant approach, referred to as spectral viscosity method...
متن کاملFully adaptive multiresolution finite volume schemes for conservation laws
The use of multiresolution decompositions in the context of finite volume schemes for conservation laws was first proposed by A. Harten for the purpose of accelerating the evaluation of numerical fluxes through an adaptive computation. In this approach the solution is still represented at each time step on the finest grid, resulting in an inherent limitation of the potential gain in memory spac...
متن کاملAdaptive multiresolution discontinuous Galerkin schemes for conservation laws
A multiresolution-based adaptation concept is proposed that aims at accelerating Discontinuous Galerkin schemes applied to nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. Opposite to standard adaptation concepts no error estimates are needed to tag mesh elements for refinement. Instead of this, a multiresolution analysis is performed on a hierarchy of nested grids for the data given on a uniformly refi...
